Mark 2:23-28

Lord of the Sabbath One Sabbath Jesus was going through the grainfields, and as his disciples walked along, they began to pick some heads of grain. The Pharisees said to him, 'Look, why are they doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath?' He answered, 'Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry and in need? In the days of Abiathar the high priest, he entered the house of God and ate the consecrated bread, which is lawful only for priests to eat. And he also gave some to his companions.' Then he said to them, 'The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath. So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.' Mark 2:23-28 NIV

23 ในวันสะบาโตวันหนึ่ง พระองค์กำลังเสด็จไปในนา และเมื่อพวกศิษย์ของพระองค์กำลังเดินไปก็เด็ดรวงข้าวไป
24 ฝ่ายพวกฟาริสีจึงถามพระองค์ว่า "ดูซิ ทำไมพวกศิษย์ของท่านจึงทำการซึ่งต้องห้ามในวันสะบาโต"
25 พระองค์จึงตรัสกับเขาว่า "พวกท่านยังไม่ได้อ่านหรือ ซึ่งดาวิดได้กระทำ เมื่อขาดอาหารและอดอยากทั้งท่านและพรรคพวกด้วย
26 คือคราวเมื่ออาบีอาธาร์เป็นมหาปุโรหิต ท่านได้เข้าไปในพระนิเวศของพระเจ้า และรับประทานขนมปังหน้าพระพักตร์ ที่กฎหมายห้ามไม่ให้ใครรับประทาน เว้นแต่พวกปุโรหิตเท่านั้น และยังซ้ำส่งให้คนที่มากับท่านรับประทานด้วย"
27 พระองค์จึงตรัสแก่เขาว่า "วันสะบาโตนั้นทรงตั้งไว้เพื่อมนุษย์ มิใช่ทรงสร้างมนุษย์ไว้สำหรับวันสะบาโต
28 เหตุฉะนั้นบุตรมนุษย์เป็นเจ้าเป็นนาย เหนือวันสะบาโตด้วย"
